San Francisco Premium Outlets recently installed 9 TossCubes in strategic high traffic locations throughout the property as part of a larger smart waste management / IoT plan to use the TossCubes, TossCaps and the Toss CleanCityNetworks to reduce waste collection costs and add to Simon Property Group’s overall sustainability initiatives. Results of this initial deployment will be detailed in an upcoming White Paper being prepared by BidOps. Plans to add additional units here and at other high-profile centers are already underway.

Located adjacent to Silicon Valley, the property features over 750,000 square feet of retail space making it California’s largest outdoor outlet mall attracting over 7 million visitors p/year. With that sort of footprint and traffic, the mall has a huge impact on local landfill usage and waste truck traffic. By deploying the data-driven Toss solutions, San Francisco Premium Outlets will make a significant impact on sustainability by reducing waste collection costs and plastic bag usage by up to 80%; fewer trucks on the road will also greatly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Overall, the deployment serves as a highly visible and easy to understand the commitment to using technology to improve the environment and the overall guest experience.
